... about leaf springs in a Corvette. I had no idea that they actually worked the way they did. I always thought they were more like the first picture on Wikipedia, rather than the second:

I also had no idea they were using composite springs. That’s cool. I never would have guessed a composite material like that would out-last steel. I always think of composite materials as being somewhat brittle.

It probably doesn’t outlast steel, and knowing gm it was just cheaper to make it that way.

Leaf springs really aren’t bad when used properly, most people just turn into snobs and assume leafs are terrible everywhere.

Well here you go - Julius Caesar had leaf springs on his chariot, and later in his Town Car. And Boudica wanted her leaf springs swapped out, but then the Romans attacked, and we all know what happened then.
